This year I'll be participating in National Model Painting Month (NaMoPaiMo). If you haven't heard of NaMoPaiMo, I highly recommend checking out the Official NaMoPaiMo Info Page. Basically, it's the same idea as NaNoWriMo, except instead of writing a novel in November, the goal is to paint a model horse entirely in the month of February. The first NaMoPaiMo was held last year, and while I attempted it, things just didn't work out for a variety of reasons I'm not going to get into here.
Anyway, this year I'm going to try again. I'm not part of the Facebook group because I don't have a personal Facebook account I use, and of course you can't join a group with a studio page. I know a lot of other people don't do Facebook either, so I thought that I'd try to share my progress here, as well as post some relevant tips and mini tutorials so hopefully all us non-Facebook group people don't feel quite as left out.

This year I'm going to be painting this Jadakiss resin:
I've had him for a couple of years now. I originally planned to paint him a coppery dappled bay, but I didn't like how he was turning out so I stripped him and then he ended up just sitting on my shelf while I worked on other projects. A few weeks ago I finally got him back out and started prepping him again.
He just needs a little more sanding and primer and then he'll be ready to paint. I'm doing him smoky cream, which is a color I haven't painted before. I think I'll be using mostly the airbrush, at least for the main body color, along with handpainted acrylics and colored pencils for all the details. Considering this is an Akhal Teke, there is also an extremely high likelihood of Pearl Ex pigments making an appearance at some point!
Are any of you participating in NaMoPaiMo this year? Do you know what you're going to paint yet? Do you have a blog or website where you'll be posting your progress? If so I'd love to see what you're doing!
